FutureScope – Finalists Announced for the 2nd International Short Film Festival

The film "The Last Fish," created by students from Giresun Mimar Sinan Anatolian High School Cinema Club, won first place for the second time at the International Future Scope Short Film Festival, which featured a total of 426 films from 27 countries.

The Future Scope Festival, held in Istanbul, brought together young directors from 27 countries. At the opening ceremony, the relationship between sustainability and artistic expression was emphasized, and important messages were given to young people. Istanbul Gelişim University Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin, who gave the opening speech, stated that sustainability should become a way of life.

The International Future Scope Short Film Festival brought together young artists and directors from over 27 countries in Istanbul. Shaped around the theme of sustainability, the festival, featuring film screenings, talks, and workshops, attracted significant interest over two days. Organized by Istanbul Gelişim University on December 5-6, the International FutureScope Short Film Festival brought together young artists and directors from over 27 countries, showcasing the transformative power of cinema through the theme of sustainability.

Hosted by Istanbul Gelisim University, the second edition of the International Future Scope Short Film Festival this year brought together young directors, artists, and industry representatives from more than 27 countries in Istanbul, presenting an intensive two-day program centered on cinema and sustainability. The festival included short film screenings, workshops, talks, sustainability workshops, and an award ceremony. With high participation, the festival united creative narratives produced by young filmmakers on global issues under one roof.

The finalists have been announced for the second edition of the FutureScope – International Short Film Festival, organized this year by İstanbul Gelişim University in collaboration with the Public Relations and Promotion Directorate and the Faculty of Fine Arts. Bringing together the transformative power of cinema with the innovative vision of young people, the festival once again attracted great interest this year. Held under the theme “FutureScope,” all films in the festival were evaluated within the framework of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The finalists selected in the fiction, documentary, animation, and high school categories will meet the audience at the gala and award ceremony to be held on 5–6 December 2025.

Istanbul Gelisim University hosted the first day of the FutureScope International Short Film Festival, which brings together young filmmakers under the theme of sustainability. The two-day festival included many events such as film screenings, workshops, talks, and the presentation of Labor Awards. The event, with its comprehensive scope emphasizing the power of cinema in creating societal awareness, brought together a wide audience from students to industry representatives at the university. The program featured Istanbul Gelisim University Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin, as well as guidance teachers, jury members, and industry representatives.
