Istanbul Gelisim University has been providing educational services since 2011. Istanbul Gelisim University, which has achieved many successes both internationally and in Turkey, has initiated a project process through its Corporate Communication and Promotion Directorate. In the field of cinema, the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Faculty of Applied Sciences, and the Faculty of Economic, Administrative, and Social Sciences have the potential for project development, event management, and cinema students. Thus, the university's three units—International Student Directorate, Corporate Communication Directorate, and Public Relations and Promotion Directorate—have come together to develop a project aimed at international students and youth. This short film competition aims to create social awareness and raise consciousness about one or more of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The competition intends to highlight these goals through short films focusing on themes such as environmental protection, measures against climate crisis, poverty alleviation, equitable wealth distribution, and peace. Additionally, Istanbul, the only city in the world that connects two continents, with its historical richness and fast-paced production and consumption, serves the festival's content. Therefore, the festival aims to contribute to the national development of narrative, experimental, animated, and documentary cinema, bring together filmmakers from abroad and within the country, and create awareness with a sustainable living motto. The festival also aims to contribute to the development of the cinema industry in Turkey and enhance the country's international recognition.
